The seasons are turning, and autumn is rolling in once again. It’s a fantastic time to go exploring and enjoy a crisp autumn day out in Bradford & district. Here are a few fun ideas for you to try this season, so that you can start planning.
Why not get the whole family involved in cooking some autumnal classics? Pick up seasonal local produce at Real Food Ilkley and the Farmers Markets at Bingley and Baildon and turn it into delicious home-made goodies like soups and cakes.
There’ll be plenty of good food at all of the amazing restaurants and eateries across the district, who are starting to serve some seasonal and warming treats. Whether it’s a ‘simple’ pumpkin-spice latte, a hearty stew or even just a good old slice of gingerbread, you’re bound to find something tasty.
Take the family on an adventure to one of Bradford’s great parks by downloading the free Love Exploring app. The app is loaded with trails, quizzes, and trivia to keep people of all ages entertained throughout the day, and you might even run into some of the app’s rare beasties!
Keep active this season by participating in one of the more unusual activities. You can literally climb the walls at The Climbing Hub in Bradford and Clip n’ Climb in Ilkley has plenty of other things for you to climb too! Put on your skates and go ice skating, and practice to be on Dancing on Ice. Race around the track at Hover Kart Mania, or pick up a club at Looney Golf and try to get your balls past a big gorilla!
Try your hand at something completely new, there are fantastic craft workshops all across the district for you to join in. Visit The Craft House in Bingley, the People Powered Press and Salt Pots at Saltaire, South Square Centre in Bradford, Cobbles and Clay in Haworth or Mrs Duttons Wondrous Workshops in Ilkley. Get involved in anything from making your own teddy bears and jewellery to even your own ink!
You can discover a new season of free exhibitions and galleries across the district. There are loads of brilliant things to check out from interactive entertainment at the Bradford Science Festival to an anniversary celebration at Ilkley Manor House.
The autumn season at the district’s theatres is absolutely packed, and you won’t want to miss it. From indie productions to Broadway smash hits like School of Rock, as well as a great line-up of guests providing comedy and personal talks. Bradford Theatres will give you a warm welcome this autumn.
Over half-term, take the family to NT East Riddlesden Hall and join in with the great activities and trails, while exploring the impressive house and grounds. On our website, you’ll also find a variety of interesting half-term activities.
Relax for a few hours on the comfortable settees of the independent Ilkley Cinema and watch a great film. For a totally immersive movie experience, head to the IMAX at the National Science and Media Museum or go to the Pictureville Cinema, which is the only remaining UK venue that can show 3-strip Cinerama.
