Welcome to the online version of Among Our Mills & Hills by Bingley Camera Club, on display at Cliffe Castle Museum in Keighley from 9 October 2021 until 13 March 2022.
Members were challenged to capture images that reflected their impressions of the Bradford District. As well as Bradford, Shipley and Keighley the area extends to Addingham and Ilkley in the north, Haworth and beyond to the west, and as far as Wyke in the south.
Alongside mills and hills, subjects include the district’s people, architecture, events and indeed anything that has meant something to the photographer. The images were selected to reflect a diverse range of subjects and styles, as well as including work from as many as possible of the club’s 80 or so members. For some images the connection to the district will be obvious; others may get you wondering. Enjoy the exhibition.
The images are not for sale, but if you are interested in purchasing one we can put you in contact with the photographer. Email us, including the name of the photo you are interested in.
Bingley Camera Club
Bingley Camera Club is a long-established and friendly group. We love photography, and enjoy sharing our knowledge to help people focus their talents; indeed, we’ve been developing local photographers since 1951. Members range from experts with a lifetime’s experience of photography, to others who are at the beginning of their photographic journey.
Our annual programme runs from September to May each year, with a wide range of speakers (often professional photographers) and regular competitions. We also hold practical nights where members can sharpen their skills or learn new ones, for example in taking portraits or editing their images. Over the summer there is usually the opportunity for people to go out together photographing further afield.
We welcome new members of all levels and photographic interests. Why not come along one evening and see for yourself?
We meet at 7.15pm on Monday nights from September to May at a new venue for this year: Bingley Methodist Church, Herbert Street, Bingley BD16 4JU.
Bingley Camera Club is grateful for funding from The South Pennines Park via the Culture Recovery Fund for Heritage. The Culture Recovery Fund is being delivered by The National Lottery Heritage Fund and Historic England, using funds provided by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport.
The club is also grateful to Bradford Museums & Galleries for generously arranging and hosting the exhibition, Peller’s of Keighley and Park Lane Studio of Baildon for frames and mounts.
