First frosts come to us all as a warning of winter. For some it’s dark afternoons, the dread of scraping ice off windscreens, gritting pathways or clearing banks of snow from drives and pavements.
Others look forward to winter. Some even say it’s their favourite season, partly as it’s when Christmas happens but also as it’s a time for comfort food, brisk walks, long cosy nights and shopping.
These images, chosen from Bradford Museums Photo Archive, reflect the many aspects of winter across the decades, from all our major collections. We hope you enjoy them.
