Join the Airedale Greenway connecting the towns along the Leeds Liverpool Canal. Or explore the Great Northern Railway Trail which takes in a number of attractions throughout Bradford district. The disused railway tracks are an excellent way to safely enjoy the countryside and to see the natural beauty of the area.

Take a nostalgic ride with dad on a vintage train at the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway.  Step back in time on the Railway Children’s Railway in the heart of Brontë Country. Immerse yourself in the history of the railways and experience a really big, noisy adventure. Visit one of the greatest working steam railways and enjoy a steam filled action-packed day out for all the family!

Visit Cliffe Castle Museum on Father’s Day for a FREE performance by the Trans-pennine Harps Group on Sunday 16 June 2019.  Trans-pennine Harp Group are an enthusiastic group of harp players who meet regularly to play, share music and swop other harp related news.  Admission is free and there is no need to book, just turn up and enjoy.

For the culture vulture dad, don’t miss a golden opportunity to feast your eyes on some spectacular art. Visit Cartwright Hall where David Hockney found inspiration as child.  The Hockney Gallery at Cartwright Hall focuses on his life and work.  Follow in Hockney’s footsteps to Cartwright Hall and see the large iconic pool scene ‘Le Plongeur’.

Seeking a theatrical experience, open-air theatre is coming to Roberts Park, Saltaire! Shakespeare in the Park ‘The Tempest’. Shakespeare’s comedy about a major act of betrayal, ill-treatment, the development of magic arts and a plot of revenge.  (15 & 16 June – 2pm Matinee & 7pm Evening Performance.)

Join Bradford Cathedral on Saturday 15 June to celebrate 100 years as a cathedral.  The ‘Centenary Festival’ is a series of incredible activities and events that you can take part in! Come kitted out in your best 1910s or 1920s style clothing and make sure you get a photo at the booth, for the chance to win the best-dressed prize!

Our Hot Pick! Visiting Saltaire at the weekend….take a trip on the Shipley Glen Tramway Victorian funicular railway is a must do.  Dating from 1895, the tramway was built to transport passengers to the local beauty spot of Shipley Glen.  At nearly a quarter of a mile long, the gentle woodland ride provides a pleasant alternative to the steep path.
