Explore the world on your doorstep! Every September, we celebrate Heritage Open Days.  It’s your chance to see hidden places and try out new experiences – all of which are FREE to explore.  What will you discover in Bradford?!  Celebrate the rich and varied heritage of Bradford.  Stunning architecture, fascinating histories and people’s stories, activities for young and old.

Our Hotpick! Bradford Bubble Up  (7-9 September) will be a huge party to celebrate the hidden currents running through the city – creative workshops, exhibitions, performances, dance, music, and art installations will bubble up in unexpected places across the city.  Visitors will be invited right into the heart of the action to be immersed in, explore and experience every nook and cranny.

Keighley Show will take place at the  Marley Playing fields, on Saturday 1 September.  Visitors to the Show are promised a varied and exciting day, with something for everyone.  Lined up for 2018 are some exciting and interesting special attractions including SMJ Falconry with two flying displays in the Main Ring. The Swales in the Dales stone carving to return, stone carving using traditional tools.  Other attractions include Terrier Racing, Ferret Racing, Fun Dog Show, Show Jumping, Heavy Horses, Vintage Tractors and much more.

Bingley Music Live continues to rock into September, featuring Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, Shed Seven, Jake Bugg, The Cribs, Ride, Gomez, Public Image Ltd & more.  Now in its 12th year, Bingley Music Live has swiftly become one of the Yorkshire’s most celebrated festivals and will once again host some of the biggest names in contemporary music across two stages.  for tickets and more information.

Real Food Ilkley at South Hawksworth Street on Sunday 2 September (10am to 3pm) The open-air market celebrates the rich variety of locally produced food and drink.

A September highlight is the wonderful Saltaire Festival a ten-day annual celebration of music and art from 7 – 16 September.  Featuring music and family entertainment in Roberts Park and Saltaire village, and a continental market in Exhibition Road, 14-16 September.  Other festival highlights include The Makers Fair a two day showcase of contemporary designer makers in Victoria Hall and the Open Gardens & Sculpture Trail at pop up houses around the village.

Baildon Scarecrow Walk is a fun-filled event for the whole family organised by Baildon in Bloom. Take a leisurely stroll around the village and look at the scarecrows based on this year’s theme of ‘My Favourite Fictional Character’.

On Saturday 29 September, thrill-seekers will be able to Zip Slide their way across City Park! It’ll be from a dizzying height of 45 metres – the equivalent of ten double decker buses stacked one on top of the other.

Ilkley Literature Festival starts in September with another exciting line-up.  The Festival is the largest in the North of England, one of the most prestigious in the country and is regarded as a major highlight on the literary calendar.
