Visit Bradford Industrial Museum, you can enjoy the splendour of Moorside House where the Mill Manager lived, or visit the Mill-workers’ terraced houses dressed to reflect three different time periods. Discover UNESCO World Heritage Site Saltaire, the charming village of Saltaire was founded in 1853 by Sir Titus Salt, a leading industrialist in the Yorkshire woollen industry. The name of the village combines the founder’s surname and the name of the pretty river that runs through the village.
Take a whippet for a walk – Renowned for our rolling hills and rugged moorland, Bradford district is a paradise for walkers. So grab your walking boots and head to Ilkley Moor where you’ll find breathtaking views, then sing out loud the well known ‘On Ilkla Moor Baht ‘at.’
Special events – 1 August in Ilkley – Yorkshire Day Declaration & Opening Ceremony of the Ilkley Summer Festival at Ilkley Town Hall steps, commencing 11:30am with the Town Crier, plus music and entertainment.
On 1st August, Yorkshire Day! Free family entertainment on Church Green (next to Keighley Shared Church) 10am – 4:00pm. Anyone wearing or bringing a flat cap to the event is invited to decorate it, either in advance or on the day. People with the best decorated caps will receive prizes.
At Keelham Farm Shop, In celebration of Yorkshire Day join the tasty tour! Collect your Taste Hunt form from the Events Barn or Home & Garden and take the flavoursome challenge!
