Come and celebrate Bradford-born David Hockney’s 80th Birthday and the opening of the new David Hockney Gallery at Cartwright Hall.

He’s been voted ‘Britain’s greatest living artist’, and now Bradford-born Hockney is getting a new permanent gallery at Cartwright Hall to mark his big birthday.

Join the Hockney birthday celebrations presented by The Brick Box at Cartwright Hall and Lister Park on Sunday 9th July 1pm-4pm.

Art, food, drink and live music for all, so put the date in your diary, Sunday 9th July 1pm-4pm. There’s even a specially created Hockney’s 80th ale brewed by Bradford Brewery.

Handmade Parade will present a puppet parade through Lister Park, with some public puppet-making sessions beforehand.

Discover Fabric Lenny with some iPad art, a giant ‘People in the Landscape’ photo montage in partnership with care homes in Bradford, and actors representing the many stages of David Hockney wandering around the park.

Get ‘Hocknified’ at the Hocknification Station and get on the dancefloor for David’s Birthday Disco, where you can make your birthday song requests.

See the unique early works including the magnificent swimming pool picture, Le Plongeur.

The Hockney Express vintage bus will travel between Victoria Road in Saltaire (outside Shipley College, near to the United Reformed Church) to Lister Park and back so you can travel in style, between two Hockney sites.  Every hour from 11:30am until 15:30 (9th July ONLY.)
